Labor’s housing red tape joke
The idea that this Labor government wants to cut housing red tape is a joke.
In three years, Labor has brought in more than 1,500 new regulations in the Infrastructure and Treasury portfolios. All while overseeing a massive collapse in housing construction. They are the red tape champions.
Just three months ago, during the last Senate Estimates, it was revealed that Labor’s Housing Minister Clare O’Neil has never asked her own department for ideas to cut red tape!
Labor’s signature housing policy, the Housing Australia Future Fund has built zero new homes in three years.
Labor is now planning to double down, with two new housing bureaucracies, wrapped in red tape.
Approvals are way down under their watch. And their 1.2 million new home target is a dead duck. Labor is out of ideas on housing supply.
If Labor was serious about cutting housing red tape, they would start by abolishing their housing bureaucracies.
