The Labor Government is using the Housing Australia Future Fund to launder billions of taxpayer funds as gifts to Labor/union-affiliated super funds.

This is not a conspiracy. This is how Australian taxpayer funds are being used, as shown in newly released documents from the Senate. Labor is bringing a corporate housing nightmare to life as a super slush fund.

Following the 2022 election and the HAFF announcement, the big super lobby was all over the government like a rash.

Treasurer Jim Chalmers allowed the big super funds to secretly influence the way the HAFF’s ‘availability payments’ work. Mr Chalmers blocked attempts to access communications between the superannuation industry and his office in respect of housing programmes. It was suspected the government was structuring HAFF “availability” payments to suit the super lobby.

Lo and behold, the super funds have now become the biggest recipients of taxpayer funds from Labor’s HAFF. Round one was a slam dunk for Big Super landlords.

For years, the most secretive government since the Keating Government has blocked access to secret lobbying documents through Senate orders and FOI. Labor blocked scrutiny using public interest immunity claims to cover up meetings between super funds and Housing Australia and Ministerial offices.

This is now a major integrity issue. The overlap between Labor, Big Super, and taxpayer billions held in the HAFF cannot be ignored. I am seriously considering a referral to the National Anti-Corruption Commission.

Labor has failed to build the homes they promised and betrayed the Australian people. To avoid scrutiny, Labor shunted Housing Australia to the midnight slot at next week's Senate Estimates hearings. Further, Treasury’s housing division is the only Treasury division not appearing during a daytime session.

The HAFF was never about Australians. It was built by vested interests, for vested interests. This stench isn’t going anywhere. Taxpayers deserve value for money. The awarding of billions of dollars to Labor mates appears to be a massive rip-off.
