We are fortunate to have one of the most advanced financial systems anywhere in the world. Complementing this system is a regulatory framework which balances the need to protect consumers and promote investment.

Why it's time for a new financial system inquiry

Since October 2022, I have chaired a Senate inquiry into the Australian Securities and Investments Commission. This inquiry is critical because it has been apparent for some time that ASIC has deviated from their sole mandate: the enforcement of corporate law.

State Gap is Holding us Back

Renovating our federation is an essential reform, yet we have barely fired the starter’s gun in the public debate. The public discussion in the first quarter of 2015 has yielded a broad consensus that Australia needs tax reform and we now have a reasonable shot at succeeding.
