New analysis shows Labor's only demand side housing policy is a sick joke.

In fresh data provided to the Senate, Housing Minister Julie Collins has revealed the proposed “Help to Buy” price caps.

The caps set by Labor are below the median house price in every major capital city and below the median dwelling price in every major capital city, excluding Melbourne.

Labor’s Help to Buy scheme is their signature demand side policy, but is languishing in the Senate for good reason.

If enacted, it would be redundant on day one everywhere but Melbourne, as the data below shows:

Labor is blinded by vested interests and refuses to countenance looking at superannuation for home deposits, lending regulation or construction costs.

Labor repeatedly referred to Help to Buy, its failed Housing Australia Future Fund and their supply targets in the 2024-25 Budget.

This is a trifecta of failures and a cruel hoax perpetrated on the people of Australia by their Government.

This new data demonstrates for all to see that Labor is both cruel and clueless on housing. The Senate has done the right thing to block this policy.
