I thank the Leader of the Opposition, Angus Taylor, for the opportunity to continue serving in the Shadow Cabinet.

We are Australia’s opposition and we owe the country two things: effective scrutiny of government and alternative policy development.

To that end, I am pleased to continue serving as the Shadow Minister for Housing and Homelessness, and welcome the opportunity to serve as Shadow Minister for the Environment.

After tanking housing supply, inflating house prices with 5 per cent gimmicks and now potentially higher taxes, Labor's presided over a trifecta that is killing the Australian dream of home ownership.

Labor has failed on housing and Australians are looking to the Coalition for real and detailed solutions that deliver more houses. We must build our way out of the housing crisis.

As our national anthem says, our land abounds in nature's gifts of beauty, rich and rare. Australia has some of the world's most beautiful natural environments which must be protected for future generations. Australians are looking for policies that will improve our environment, while delivering investment and jobs.

I look forward to getting on with the job.
