The Senate has voted to establish a new inquiry to examine household electrification.

Household electrification is an increasingly viable option. Electrification can reduce emissions and energy costs.

The Inquiry, to be conducted by the Senate Economics References Committee, will examine the benefits and constraints of household electrification.

Amongst other matters, the Inquiry will examine how electrification can combat energy price inflation.

Consideration will be given to domestic and international opportunities in developing new and dynamic policy options for Australia.

The Inquiry is due to report by the end of 2024.
