Senate Seeks Housing Scrutiny from Labor
September 17, 2024
The Senate has passed a motion to bring transparency to Labor’s murky Housing Australia Future Fund (HAFF).
Yesterday, we saw Labor go on a media blitz about how the HAFF was set to deliver 13,700 new dwellings.
Labor’s announcement lacked detail raising more questions than answers. Prime Minister Albanese and Housing Minister Clare O’Neil have neglected to mention who is participating in this initial stage of the HAFF.
The documents requested may reveal whether the CFMEU through Cbus are participating.
So long as Cbus Super remains 21% owned by the CFMEU, it remains an unfit entity to participate in any taxpayer-funded scheme.
I thank the Crossbench for supporting transparency.
